NYARUGENGE Business Women trained on business negotiation

> 2 March 2015

Friday 20th, 2015, a training of more than 40 business women on business negotiation skills was organized in Galaxy Hotel, Nyarugenge District.

This training was an initiative of the RPPD Secretariat and the PSF chamber of women entrepreneurs with the support from the German Development cooperation through GIZ Eco-Emploi program.

Two consultants (ladies) from EXHIBIT, a Burundian consulting firm conducted the training.

In a half day session, women were explained the essence of the Public Private Dialogue (PPD) approach and how it can be used to solve business related issues and contribute to business promotion.

They were also explained the PPD cycle and the role of women in each of the steps. In addition, business women were taught tips for conducting a fruitful negotiation to get all barriers to their business development waived.

Women entrepreneurs asked some questions to get some clarifications especially about how issues are received and channeled in order to be discussed and solved through dialogue, the structure of PPD and the implementation of dialogue resolutions.

This training offered an opportunity for women to raise some business issues affecting mostly women. These include but not limited to lack of collateral to access bank loan where, even the 25% of collateral required in case of BDF support still seem to be much for women starting new businesses.

They also mentioned among the challenges they face sexual corruption (in case of tendering).

In general, the training allowed women to be aware that now their business issues can be solved through PPD and that they have to use this opportunity adequately by working together, being organized and putting together their voices to positively influence changes that can allow smooth running of their businesses.
