GAKENKE PPD DISCUSSED ABOUT DELAY IN PAYMENT TO ENTREPRENEURS BY PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS, 03 September 2014

> 3 October 2014

On Wednesday, 03rd September 2014, a PPD meeting was held in Gakenke district about delay in payment to entrepreneurs by public institutions.

The dialogue was attended by 25 participants while expected invitees were 30. Both sides were represented: 4 men including the Executive Secretary of the district and 2 women came from the Public sector while 16 men and 3 women came from the Private sector.

The dialogue was conducted in a good atmosphere; most participants expressed their views on the issue. One of them said that the delay payment was frequently observed in companies which work with sectors. They provided the materials to build schools (9 or 12 years basic education) but was not paid by the later. The reason was that the sectors had not sufficient budget for some planned activities. Another one said that the delay payment was due to long district procedures; this is hindering business men who had contracts with the District in different domains: delay in paying taken loans, loosing benefits, etc.

After many interventions, the dialogue convinced the district authorities to control the procedures for payment of any activity and to look into all deals who had encountered the case. This will be implemented in one month.
